The Standard requires

The adoption and implementation of hazard and risk analysis (HACCP system)
A documented and effective quality management system
The control of environment standards, products, processes and personnel


The standard contains separate modules for the different sectors within the supply chain, namely storage, distribution, wholesaling and contracted specialist services offered by storage companies such as:

Product inspection / sorting
Contract packing (re-packing, assembling packing)
Quality control inspection
Contract chilling / freezing / de-frost operations

The standard is not applicable:

Storage facilities that are under the direct control of the production site management
Operations where product processing or the handling or packing / re-packing of open food occurs


The scope of the standard shall also exclude live animals, pre-farm gate loose bulk agricultural products, and consumer products that are not covered by the scope of the BRC Global Standard - Consumer Products.

The storage module consists of the following sections:

Personnel


The distribution module consists of the following sections:

Hazard and risk analysis system
Quality management system
Vehicle operating standards
Personnel


The wholesale module consists of the following sections:

Purchasing
Product inspection and analysis (wholesaler own brand only)

The contracted services module consists of the following sections:

Contractual arrangement
Product inspection
Contract packing (re-packing, assembly packing)
Quality control inspection
Contract chilling / freezing / tempering and de-frost operations
