Pilot Project on "Safe Food, Tasty Food" launched by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for eating establishments in Delhi and NCR. Introduction

The 'Food Safety and Standards Authority of India' is a Statutory Regulatory Authority having the mandate for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.

Project Details

With the objective of improving safety & quality of the food being served in the food establishments including restaurants, small & medium eating establishments, dhabas, food serving retail outlets, fresh extracted juice dispensing outlets and shops serving un-labeled pre-packaged or loose sweets/ baked products/ confectionery products etc.

Project Profile

The pilot project aims at voluntary participation of food establishments of Delhi/NCR to ensure the food safety and to up-grade the hygienic conditions of the eating establishments. The quality & safety management of food establishments will over the period of time will be monitored under the relevant laws and regulations of FSS Act, 2006.

Approved Certification Bodies

FSSAI has empowered National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), Quality Council of India(QCI) for approval of certification bodies under the scheme. FoodCert India is a recognized Certification Body by NABCB under the above scheme for auditing the eating establishments and provision of certificates under this scheme.
